Stage 1. Lots of little baddies coming down in formation. No slowdown here. IN fact you'll find just the opposite, Recca is like a monster-truck with the pedal jammed down. Still no sign of slowdown! Mind you there's a big PAUSE enemy on screen to avoid. Nasty baddies these, they sometimes pop up just as you're about to take a snapshot. Bane of my life;)
The Stage 1 mini-boss. Easy to kill. Once you kill the mini-boss, you get warped into a wierd place with a wavy purple background. Bad trip! Bad trip! Just like those ones in Super Aleste in fact. They keep coming! the small waves of baddies attack in various ways, each designed to keep you on your toes. The Stage 1 boss. Has 4 flamethrowers and is a pain in the ass to kill. The background here scrolls backwards, fast. Really, really fast. I know this pic shows it scrolling FORWARD slowly, but just you play the game and see! Most disorientating. Not-nice guy with a lazer arm that swings back and forth. Stage 2 boss. The lazers scan back and forth, and occasionally lash out at your poor ship. Stage 3. Incoming! This level has more variety in the enemies, you don't know what's going to come at you next. How to know you're screwed in Recca: 1. You have this on your screen. :) Loads of them attacking at once from all angles! Little turrets that shoot lazers. Think fast, stay alive. Think slow, die in a mash of molten metal and sizzling body bits. INCOMING! Missiles are a real pain in the bahookie. Especially when coming from two sides at once. This is an out-and-out nerve jangling ride! Stage 3 Boss. Very nasty, shoots bullets all over, and it's lazer will toast you instantly. Boss from Stage 4. Stage 4 basically consists of all the bosses in the game over plus a few new ones. No, I'm not gonna show the final boss. Why ruin the surprise? ;) |
